La gran mayoría de los documentos que componen el fondo fueron adquiridos por Eduardo Ceballos durante el ejercicio de sus funciones como escritor, periodista y conductor. Algunos registros fueron generados en su lugar de producción y realización debido a que operadores y técnicos grabaron la transmisión de los programas o presentaciones en un soporte/unidad. Por otro lado el Sr. Ceballos también adquirió grabaciones musicales comerciales y registros de sus actividades por su cuenta, y finalmente muchos materiales fueron donados al escritor por parte de los mismos músicos que visitaron sus programas.

Los materiales que componen el fondo responden a diferentes periodos, actividades y contextos de creación y acumulación. El Sr. Ceballos estuvo a cargo de diferentes programas y secciones dentro de los medios de comunicación más importantes que tuvo y tiene la provincia de Salta. Es por esto que los archivos abarcan por un lado contenidos generados por él en sus producciones radiales realizadas a partir de la década del 80. Pero también incluyen el acervo de discos y cassettes que coleccionó por diferentes motivos desde que comenzó su actividad radial y cultural en la década del sesenta. Entre los programas producidos y conducidos por Ceballos, registrados en Cinta de Carrete Abierto, podemos encontrar grabaciones de los ciclos: Tiempo cancionero; Efemérides; La gotita literaria; Tiempo cancionero; Latinoamericanto; Punto de vista; El canto nuevo. Dentro del conjunto de cintas también se encuentran entrevistas a César Isella y los Tucu Tucu, grabaciones de música comercial y registros de otros programas radiales como Butaca reservada, Surcos de mi tierra, etc. Los discos de pasta registran mayoritariamente música folklórica nacional y tango.

Se desconoce el proceso de valoración, selección y eliminación previo al ingreso al ABHPS. Una vez ingresada la donación las unidades se limpiaron y albergaron en cajas de polipropileno. Por otro lado se digitalizó una sección de los registros sonoros, dando prioridad a las cintas de carrete abierto.
