El donante relató que tuvo en su poder los U-Matic en donde se grababa el máster de cada programa y que guardó los mismos durante muchos años. La copia digital de cada unidad que donó a la Mediateca del ABHPS se realizó a partir de los SVHS que contenían una copia de resguardo extraída del U Matic original. A fines de la década del 2010 Meléndez donó todo el material de video analógico a la carrera de cine de la UNC. Las copias digitales fueron realizadas por el mismo Poy con software y hardware de su propiedad. A su vez cada material enviado a la Mediateca a través de plataformas digitales de trasferencia de datos fue editado en forma previa por el donante con la finalidad de mejorar a su criterio el aspecto de las imágenes. Los registros sonoros fueron recuperados por el donante gracias a una gestión realizada en el INM (Instituto Nacional de Musicología) , institución que le facilitó una copia del material.

Donación realizada por Poy Meléndez a la Mediateca del ABHPS. La misma se inició en enero de 2024 y se completó en junio del mismo año. Los archivos digitales fueron enviados forma progresiva a medida que el donante los transfirió en forma remota a través de plataformas como we transfer now.

El fondo de Poy Meléndez brinda testimonio y se centra mayoritariamente en la historia de la televisión salteña entre los años 1985 y 1996 aproximadamente, de la mano de producciones y ciclos que realizaba para Canal 11 de Salta, a saber: Los marginados, La Balanza, Intercambio y Té de temas. Los Marginados y La Balanza abarcan una serie de programas testimoniales sobre la base del género documental. Las temáticas giran en torno del ser humano en distintas situaciones, circunstancias, costumbres y creencias y todo aquello que se circunscribe a las particularidades de la zona que habita. Algunas de las temáticas que se abordan en el ciclo Los Marginados, conducido por Mónica Petrocelli, son: prostitución; desocupados; Locos; presidiarios; aborígenes; drogadictos; niñez abandonada; madres solteras; villeros; boxeadores; discapacitados; pobladores de frontera; alcohólicos; analfabetos; homosexuales; razas y religiones, etc. Por otro lado y dentro del ciclo televisivo La Balanza se abordan temas como: gitanos; día de circo; el otro interior; el amor por la música; historia de un mendigo; gente en el mercado; poderes misteriosos; noches de cabaret; el milagro en Salta; la tierra del oro; un tren al cielo; carnavaleando; pachamama, nosotros y el mundial; Cachi y el viento, etc. En ambos ciclos las emisiones incluían un profundo trabajo de investigación, entrevistas a diversos referentes claves, informes y coberturas, e imágenes de contexto vinculados a la temática tratada. A su vez los ciclos Intercambio y Té de temas están destinados a instalar en cada emisión un tópico y sus diversos abordajes. El objetivo es que ya sea en un panel en vivo o a través de entrevistas editadas se puedan escuchar diversas voces y experiencias respecto a cuestiones de interés para la comunidad. En el marco del ciclo Intercambio se tocan temas tales como: La economía salteña; Educación técnica; Tránsito - educación vial; La universidad; Educación para adultos: La industria cervecera; Octorina Zamora – Wichí; Comercio exterior – ferinoa; Muestra de teatro breve; Kallpa Huayna; Universidad de la tercera edad; Doralba Trunsky y Fernando Altube; Recuperación del Chaco; Aerobics y paddle; Érase una vez en Anta. Durante el ciclo Té de temas, que responde a un formato más tipo mesa panel de debate en vivo, se tocan temas tales como: Protagonismo de la mujer en la actualidad I, II y III; Medicina científica vs. Medicina popular; Jóvenes periodistas; Los jóvenes - 14 a 16 años; La salud; La educación I y II; América de nuevo - espectáculo teatral con motivo de los 500 años; La ecología; ¿Desaparecen los ferrocarriles?; La educación vial; Medicina alternativa I y II; Crisis de la fe; La soledad de los ancianos; Sida; La cárcel; Los empresarios salteños; Los 500 años comentados por representantes de diferentes comunidades; La disciplina en el secundario I y II; Literatura vs. Televisión; Educación sexual vista por los jóvenes; Visita de Norma Aleandro y Adriana Aizemberg; Licantropía; Conclusiones de educación sexual vista por los adultos; La menopausia; ¿Hay vida después de la vida; La astrología. Dentro del fondo también podemos encontrar dos documentales realizados en el año 1996 por Meléndez, “Estación Terminal de Ómnibus” y “El Milagro de la Historia”. Por otra parte podemos encontrar cuatro registros musicales vinculados a las actividades de Meléndez como músico e integrante del grupo folklórico Los Huayna Sumaj, grabados en el año 1959 con el sello TK.

En todos los casos, le usuario se compromete a citar la fuente conforme el siguiente aviso legal: “Este material se encuentra bajo la guarda y custodia del Archivo Histórico de Salta, formando parte de su acervo”. Se deberá citar la documentación siguiendo las pautas definidas por el ABHPS. El acceso a las copias digitales se realiza en la Mediateca del Archivo Histórico de Salta o se gestiona la posibilidad de consulta en forma remota.

Una vez realizada la copia de edición en soporte SVHS los U Matic utilizados para el registro del máster y bruto fueron eliminados por el donante. En el año 2010 las unidades de conservación en que aún conservaba el donante fueron cedidas a la carrera de cine de la UNC. Se desconoce si se encuentran disponibles para su consulta en dicha institución.

El fondo Poy Meléndez se encuentra vinculado al Fondo Jorge López ya que ambos donantes trabajaron juntos en diversos proyectos y etapas de sus vidas. Jorge López donó, como parte de su archivo personal a la Mediateca del archivo, un documental que fue realizado y filmado por Poy en 1979 en el marco del II Abril Cultural Salteño.
